Interconnected are health and beauty, right? Sure, there are times when all humans do not feel like the most beautiful or healthy, and personally that is typically reflected in my appearance. I haven't quite mastered the whole, "never let them see you sweat," mentality. That's a work in progress. I'm human, and most of the time don't have the energy to fake the funk. Truth is . . . most of us have rough days and rough patches, and it's okay if from time to time in my rough patches, I look rough. Take me as I am not how you want me to be so said she as in me.
My mental health thrives on self-care, self-love, and self-appreciation as over the past few years, I have truly been on a journey of self discovery for inner peace. Lately, make-up and beauty products have been beneficial pick me ups through trying times. Actually, I have always had love for beauty products as I sold AVON when I was younger, but that is a different story for a different post. I feel that make-up provides us with the opportunity to start each day with the blank canvas of our faces, which can be dressed up however one decides.
Applying make-up began serving as a form of therapy for me. I'm starting to view it as my time with myself that prepares me to tackle the day, just like working out in the morning does for most people. Over the past few months, there have been some stressful days. When people asked how my day was so far, I replied that it was going well because my make-up looked good and that meant that I was going to have a great day! I'm trying to be on that whole Deion Sanders vibe, "you look good, you feel good," even when I don't have the energy. Because when I have the energy, best believe it's a wrap!
While I feel beautiful with and without make-up there is something truly empowering about walking around with a beat face and a bold lip, and feeling like you can take on the day regardless of whatever hater may come your way! Trust me - there are plenty of haters lurking around these days, especially when your blessings begin to flourish and the right people take notice.
Though, there is also an underlying sense of privilege that comes with being able to afford to doll yourself up, and for that reason I try to look for bargain buys for all aspects of beauty care, whether it be make-up, hair, nails, or perfumes. This blog page is dedicated to those like me who love to look good, while saving dollars. Be sure to follow my beauTiFFul journey!
