The fourth addition in this collection brings true island gal vibes that are very on brand for Rihanna.

Fenty Skin has expanded its body mist collection with Tropical Trip! Part of my intrigue with Rihanna’s brands, Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin, is the clever names they apply to their products. Yes, they are high quality and that’s what matters most. It is simply an added bonus knowing that I’ll get an extra smile while applying their products each time I look at the shade or scent name. Body mists are on the rise and it is very interesting to see so many beauty brands who initially started with perfume maneuver to this arena of beauty. Back in October 2025, Fenty Skin released 3 New Body Mists: Fruity, Floral, and Gourmand of which my favorite was Vanilla Flowers.  With this tropical treat being the fourth installment to this collection, I decided to give it a breakdown for you during a recent trip to Ulta Beauty!

There is truth in the tropical. As soon as I got a whiff of this scent it reminded me of another product collection that I love in Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus. Wait. Just wait a minute. Before you go left, let me get you back right! That product collection is nostalgic for me because it was the first product that I used to get tight coils in my 4C natural hair that I rocked towards the latter end of my undergraduate years. Best believe, I was styling and profiling all across the campus of North Carolina State University. The Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie was already on my hair when I jotted down my notes on this body mist, so it was an easy scent association. I can attest that it did what it was supposed to do in giving me a trip down memory lane. It could do the same for you or it could inspire you to take a trip to create a new memory.
The memory that you create does not have to be taking a plane ride to somewhere tropical. Having recently traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico and climbed through the El Yunque National Forest, I know how incredible it feels to explore a new place alongside breathtaking, clear spring water.
I’m also aware that vacation prices are astronomical nowadays, and the trip you create can live right in the joy of your everyday routine. A touch of quiet luxury could be spending $35 on this 5.9-ounce body mist to elevate your self-care practice. Even if you have a steady routine, you can switch it up with your scent and allow the party to be where you are in the moment. Be creative with your mind, your time, and your funds. You have water in your bathroom, let that shower be your tropical trip and afterwards you can layer up with Nivea’s Coconut Body Lotion and then use Tropical Trip by Fenty Skin as the body mist that provides the finishing touches.

Always remember that body mist needs layering because it adds to the longevity. While I only sampled Tropical Trip on a paper tester during my Ulta run, I know from owning Vanilla Flowers that this Fenty collection has impressive staying power on the skin, especially when paired with a rich scented lotion.

When in-store shopping, they usually simplify the notes on the product displays. In this case, they listed the spray’s key notes as pineapple, tuberose, and coconut. The coconut and the pineapple pair very well together, which is no surprise because that combination thrives beyond fragrance and extends to beverage. How many times have you heard the song, “if you like piña colada’s and getting’ caught in the rain?” Well, this scent is different enough to make you want dance in the rain while smelling like a piña colada. I have smelled tropical scents before, but the unusual element to me is the addition of floral. The flower note inclusion makes it different enough to make you stand out and add something extra to the mix.

I used the word ‘different’ several times in describing this fragrance. Is that a good thing? Maybe for you! My nose is not adjusted yet to that combination, because I like my coconut scents to smell edible like Vanilla Powder by Matiere Premiere. I’m sure the vacation vibes pairing of tropical and floral works together more than I realize, but I just keep coming back to this one having a familiar coconut vibe with a floral flare. If you haven’t smelled tuberose before, it is not a rose scent like its name suggests; instead, imagine its aroma as similar to a gardenia flower but with more sweetness. Apparently, it’s the perfect floral pairing for these tropical notes, as some find the bloom itself carries a distinct coconut cream sweetness.

This is a great option for someone who loves scents that immediately give vacation vibes, who also loves radiating the great energy that comes with florals! I am still adjusting my nose to get more into floral fragrance combinations. So, you’ll have to lead the way for me and report back how it paired with your skin in the comment section below.

If you’ve worn tropical scents before, are you used to them having a key note of floral?
