Let me set the scene. There I was on a summer morning, just finishing up my Crispy Chicken Biscuit at McDonald's paired with a golden, oval-shaped hash brown — fully satiated. The sun was beginning to rise, bringing a pleasant breeze that offered a welcome break from the humidity that loves to make its presence known in North Carolina. I unlocked my phone, scrolled through Instagram, and instantly spotted a post from Dollar Tree (DLTR) promoting their latest body mist collection. The bottles looked familiar right away.
I was quick to comment, "Phlur dupe?! Let me make my way to your store to grab these to review on my blog, www.somotiffated.com!" Then, that is exactly what I did. I enjoyed the drive over, deliberately going out of my way to visit a location that offers a better experience. Keeping it real, I mean a location that does not have those clear security cases with the small arm holes — where retrieving a product feels like a high-stakes game of Operation where you cannot touch the sides. As a shorter woman with a past back injury, I avoid those stores as much as possible. I am not here for extra wear and tear on my body just to purchase beauty products!

Luckily, after taking a trek to my favorite location, I found all four! Whew, yes! I could tell this line was already receiving major buzz because I grabbed the last bottle of one scent, and the rest were running scarce. Normally, when reviewing dupe fragrances, I smell the original product first. Not this time! I headed over to Sephora and realized that not all of the Phlur mists were on display. Some are online exclusives, meaning there were none available locally to scent test. What made decoding these so interesting is that Dollar Tree rarely lists scent notes on their packaging, making context clues vital. Based on their vanilla riff, these lean more towards "inspired by" rather than true duplicates like you are more likely to find with Bath & Body Works dupes.

Having worn Phlur’s Vanilla Skin consistently for years, the key difference is that Dollar Tree’s version delivers a straightforward, sweet vanilla rather than that signature woodsy depth. I did not smell it and immediately think, “Oh my goodness, this is spot-on to Phlur’s best-seller.”
Be that as it may, Spa Luxury still delivers delightful scents for $1.25 in generous 7-ounce bottles — an undeniable value compared to Phlur’s $39 price tag for 8 ounces. In my mind, Phlur is a modern fragrance house designed to be light and playful (their Golden Rule perfume instantly reminds me of sweet gummy bears). While shooting product photos at Dollar Tree, I encouraged a woman in her 50s to test one of the mists in the aisle. She felt it was a bit too youthful for her taste. Yet when speaking with another shopper in her 20s, she declared that exact pink mist her absolute favorite! Scent preference is entirely subjective. Everyone views fragrance through their own lens, so never let someone else's opinion deter you from products you genuinely enjoy.

If you are ready to experiment with fun, playful mists, you can’t go wrong with any of these Spa Luxury options. I sprayed Morning Cloud on several occasions while lounging at home, and it delivered impressive staying power. After spritzing it on before bed, a gentle trace of the scent was still lingering the next morning. Hopefully, you find a new favorite in the mix! It takes a tribe. Warm Vanilla does smell good! It is a soft, cozy vanilla that feels comforting, though it lacks the woodsy depth of Phlur’s Vanilla Skin. This is definitely a low-cost option for everyday wear. If you like layering scents to extend longevity, Spa Luxury also offers a Vanilla Sugar body wash and body lotion. It is the perfect pairing for a complete, budget-friendly body care routine.

Island Mist

Island Mist is a fresh and clean option that is great for this time of year as you get in the last of your beach trips before school starts back or summer vacation ends. Yes, you may be grown, but I know you are out there using up a good deal of your personal time off (PTO) while it is warm outside! It really does give island vibes with hints of floral notes. However, it differs from Phlur’s version because Spa Luxury’s option does not have a prominent coconut note. I tested Island Swim by Phlur this week and immediately as I entered a room, someone complimented me on the scent, saying that it smelled good and wanted to know its name. Will the same happen with this version? Possibly! Go give it a try, put on several pumps of this fragrance, and head to the stores you normally frequent. Hopefully a scent compliment makes its way to you! Island Mist is soft enough to wear consistently, yet it has an element of boldness where heads can still turn.

Floral Velvet is a girly-girl treat. It is so sweet that it instantly reminds me of those fruity lip glosses from grade school, you know, the ones in the circular tin that you’d scoop out with your fingertip. I love a good dose of nostalgia, and this scent delivers that feeling. It definitely leans more fruity than floral! While I love connecting fragrance to food, dragon fruit is one exotic fruit that isn't regularly on my radar. This assessment is going to be a team effort: you’ll need to circle back and let me know if it smells the way dragon fruit tastes!

Morning Cloud is easily my favorite from this collection! It features a beautiful vanilla essence and seamlessly introduces a smoky element reminiscent of incense. While I know my personal dupe match, the fragrance community remains divided. I saw some creators link this to Phlur's Heavy Cream, but I scent-tested that body mist in-store and found it far too sweet and light, so I ruled it out. Others describe the spice as potpourri, which I can see, the sweet and smoky combination feels like the holiday season in the best way. We’ve all heard of Christmas in July, so give this one a try!
