I feel like we should have all expected this line to have a blue collection, especially given who owns this brand. If you aren’t familiar, Cécred is owned by Béyonce! The brand dropped its protection collection in September. I was shopping in Ulta in late August 2025 when a fellow shopper let me know the line was announced on Instagram. I didn’t think much of it because I was still plotting to use the $56 Restoring Hair & Edge Drops that folks are raving about online.
Given that product was so expensive, I was cool on this brand or so I thought. I have noticed that I need to do a better job at hydrating my body through drinking more water as I know that supports a healthy scalp. When I am dehydrated, my scalp gets really dry and so does my hair. So, I set out to buy a scalp balm. I went to Sally Beauty and bought the Feel It Formula Hair Strengthening Balm that retails for $8. Prior to using it, a friend reminded me that there are cleaner products on the market so I returned it unused. That one included SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate), so I’m not exactly sure what those are but I know Béyonce’s line doesn’t have them!!

I’m very mindful of the chemicals that I put in my hair now for various reasons. Going from an $8 scalp balm to the $36 Hair & Scalp Balm by Cécred is a leap but I’d rather choose hard now for easier later. When I stopped by Ulta to purchase, they had a huge display on this new collection, so I researched them all and bought the balm. Let's chat!

The Protection Collection is geared towards supporting healthy hair and scalp whether you’re prepping for protective styles or are currently wearing one. Who is the targeted consumer for these products? Cécred says it’s for the following:
  • Natural Hair
  • Color-Treated Hair
  • Human Hair Wigs
  • Human Hair Extensions
  • Human Hair Weaves
  • Human Braiding Hair
  • Synthetic Braiding Hair
Now, notice they DID NOT say lace fronts wigs! Please do not use these products on your lace fronts thinking these oils and sprays will be good for your adhesive. Ma’am. Leave it alone!
As you know I’m a fragrance aficionado, so I’m going to discuss the notes in this line before diving deeper into sharing about their uses. This product smells clean. It’s very fresh and light. I do appreciate how her product lines have fragrance notes, which gets me excited like I’m shopping for perfume because the notes are similar to that of an expensive eau de parfum.

Cécred Protection Collection’s Fragrance Notes:
  • Pink Pepper
  • Vanilla
  • Cardamom Spice
  • Tonka Bean
  • Oud

Hair & Scalp Balm ($36)

Tiffany’s Take: As I mentioned, this is the one that I purchased! What drew me to the Cécred Hair & Scalp Balm product is that its clean, albeit expensive. It is hard to touch at first and you have to dig your finger into the container, like for real. Once you do that it is easier to grab. I guess this is a good feature to make sure that you’re not wasting the product by grabbing too much in one go, but honey they make you work! Their description of this product is true as it goes from balm-to-oil the more that you work the product into your hands. My focus in using this product is scalp health as I use the Carol’s Daughter Goddess Strength 7 Oil Blend Hair & Scalp Oil on my hair.

Cecred Hair & Scalp Balm, After 2 Uses
I’ve used the Cécred balm twice in three days, as my scalp craves moisture, and I haven’t had dry scalp since so I’m looking forward to using all of this product! It is supposed to support scalp itchiness and my scalp did start to itch two days after washing my hair, so I applied more. Take that with a grain of salt, because I’ve already mentioned I’m working to hydrate more and that could’ve played a role in my scalp starting to itch. It wasn’t dry when I itched my scalp, so that could’ve been a me thing.

Detangling Spray ($28)

Picture
A staff member at Ulta let me know that she used the Cécred Detangling Spray when taking down her braids and that it helped to detangle them easier. I translate that to meaning it softened the product build up to allow for her to comb through her hair more smoothly. Cécred’s website shares this product makes detangling two times easier based on an independent study, adding moisture and softness, so her review sounds true to their word. The engineering of the product is supposed to have a wide sprayer to coat your hair equally to upgrade the experience.

I think I might use this product in the future when detangling my coils. Those can get tangled easily. I love using The Doux’s Mousse Def Texture Foam when doing them as it creates a soft hold, but the removal process can definitely be aided by a detangling spray. Cécred, if you’re reading and want to send me some products, I look forward to using them all!

Detoxifying Shampoo ($39)

Picture
On the topic of my product buildup from my coils solidified by mousse, seeing this product line reminded me of the importance of going in with a detoxifying shampoo prior to using a hydrating shampoo. The Cécred Detoxifying Shampoo is actually blue as seen on the Cécred YouTube Channel. It comes out of the bottle looking like a blue-violet color and then lathers normally for a deep clean. In the video, they mention to use as directed and if you still need moisture to follow up with their Cécred Hydrating Shampoo. Now, I did try the latter and it was lovely! Its lather, its smell, and the way that it left my hair made me feel better about spending $31 to acquire that bottle. So if you do follow up with this product after the Detoxifying Shampoo, you should be satisfied!

Oil Ritual ($48)

Picture
Cécred Oil Ritual has a mix of 21 oils! Its marketed as deep scalp nourishment that is restorative in adding strength plus shine. This reminds me of the old school oil treatments that I used to do with my mom when I was younger. Do you remember heating up oil in the microwave and applying it to your hair and scalp for deep penetration? That part! This oil ritual can be used heated or at typical room temperature. If you are going to heat up this product, then it will require putting it in a heat-safe container. Do NOT microwave the bottle, friends.

Now, one of the oils it contains is peppermint so it is cooling. I brought that up because I don’t want you to be shocked like the first time that you used a Honey Pot Menstrual Pad, if you know then you know!!

Scalp Refreshing Spray ($38)

Picture
Cécred’s Scalp Refreshing Spray would’ve been super helpful to have that past December when I graduated with my Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Digital Marketing, because those graduation braids were itching so much!! The nozzle of this bottle would’ve helped me to reach in-between the inevitable matting of the curly human hair extensions to nourish my scalp.

Having a product that gets into the grooves of your braids, tracks, etc. can only be a good thing, right? Relieving the itchiness to get you through while stretching to your next shampoo.

Restorative Hair & Edge Drops ($56)

Picture
I bought the Cécred Restoring Hair & Edge Drops a month ago and will be using it soon! Stay tuned for my documented journey of seeing how it restores my hair on my YouTube Channel. In order to get the best results, I will still be maintaining my self-care which includes hydration, vitamins, and making sure that my hair is moisturized.

I do want to know, now what is in this product that is making y’all act like you have lost your mind? Folks are selling it for a hundred dollars a bottle on Amazon, which likely prompted Ulta to place a purchase limit of two per person. In all seriousness, the ingredients list shows a mix of peptides which stimulate new hair follicle growth and strengthens existing ones. Having the vitamin biotin in the ingredients list is always a good thing as that one is known to grow hair, along with panthenol which is a B5 vitamin. There are several other ingredients that seem to make this one a banger.

Not only will I be documenting this product’s results on my YouTube channel, but also in another blog post. So, be sure to subscribe to my MoTiFFated Mail e-newsletter for updates on my latest content!

I’m looking forward to trying more of the products in this line. As this is noted as a prestige brand, that is reflected in its price point. So, I’m pacing myself with all the beauty products that I purchase. Again, if the Cécred team is reading this article, I welcome a PR box coming my way!
Let me know, will you be trying these products?!
